Tomorrow is the end of an era

Don’t bother me between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m tomorrow.

Because I can’t physically be there, my heart and mind and focus will be in the loathsome hell-hole known as Lawrence, KS. Tomorrow is the last scheduled match-up ever between Mizzou and KU, a hatred and rivalry that dates back to the Civil War. My stomach will be in my throat as I try to pick out the black and gold among a sea of red and blue. I’ll be short of breath as I watch Kim or Flip or Cardo or Steeevveee speed down the court and my arms will be raised as the Tigers attempt a three-pointer. Don’t bother me because I’ll be witnessing history and praying it turns out in my favor. There might be tears, there might be disappointment, but you better believe there will be pride in knowing that my school is the bigger person in this situation and that we are part of a long-standing and famous college rivalry that will live forever in the hearts of fans regardless of the color of their jersey or their level intelligence (Mizzou is clearly superior in the latter).
